If you need any assistance in uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection or installing CrowdStrike, please contact the Duke OIT Service Desk at 91 or via their web site. If you downloaded this software for a Duke-owned computer that you manage yourself, please uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection and replace it with CrowdStrike. If you downloaded this software for a Duke-owned computer that is managed by Duke IT staff, please contact your IT staff for assistance or with any questions. While these software solutions are recommended and in use by many Duke IT Security Office members on their home computers, you are welcome to use any solution–free or otherwise–that you feel provides acceptable security. Instead, Duke OIT recommends using one of many popular free options such as Windows Defender Antivirus, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition, or Avast Free Antivirus. Given that good anti-virus products are now widely (and often freely) available, Duke is no longer offering a paid anti-virus solution for home or personal use. We are all going to be migrated to their more expensive 'cloud' based service. Please uninstall the Symantec Endpoint Protection software by May 1st, 2018. There is an extra complication for Update 1803, as my Avast AV Software (Endpoint Protection Suite) is not compatible, and it doesnt look as though it is going to be. Duke’s license for Symantec Endpoint Protection software is coming to an end and the software must now be removed.
